About the App
What can I do with AstroSanmei?
AstroSanmei provides Sanmei-inspired readings, character interpretations, similarity scores, compatibility features, daily timing, and fictional worldbuilding content. All content is provided for personal entertainment, reflection, and character exploration only.
Where is my profile saved?
Your profile, birth date, birth time, birth place, registered characters, favorites, and app settings are stored only on your device. If you enable the iCloud sync feature described below, registered character information can be shared across devices signed in with the same Apple ID. AstroSanmei does not send this information to a developer-operated server.
How does iCloud sync work?
When you turn on iCloud sync in Settings, user characters on this device are saved to iCloud and merged with user characters from other iPhone/iPad devices where iCloud sync is also turned on with the same Apple ID. When you turn sync off, that device no longer participates in iCloud sync, and user characters are stored only on that device. Turning sync off does not delete user characters already saved on each device. Delete them on each device if needed. Your own profile information is not included in iCloud sync.
Does entering a birth place use network communication?
If you search for a birth place, place search and geocoding are handled by Apple’s MapKit. The text you enter may be processed by Apple in order to return place suggestions or coordinates. AstroSanmei does not receive or store your birth place search queries on a developer-operated server.
Does AstroSanmei use my current location?
No. AstroSanmei does not require access to your current location for birth place input. You can search for your birth place manually by entering a town or city.
Can professionals use AstroSanmei for client readings?
No. AstroSanmei is for personal entertainment, reflection, and character exploration only. Fortune tellers, astrologers, counselors, coaches, and other advisors may not use AstroSanmei for professional services, client readings, reports, advice, or paid services.
Are readings professional advice?
No. AstroSanmei’s readings, similarity scores, compatibility results, daily timing, and character interpretations are provided for entertainment and reflection. They are not medical, legal, financial, psychological, religious, career, relationship, or other professional advice. Do not rely solely on app results when making important decisions.
What is the fortune shift feature?
Sanmeigaku divides the Earth-Sun relationship into 24 solar terms. A fortune shift occurs at the exact moment one solar term transitions to the next. AstroSanmei calculates these precise timestamps using NASA JPL DE440/DE441 ephemeris data. If your birthday falls near a fortune shift, the app shows the exact boundary time so you can check whether the reading before or after the transition fits you better.
How accurate are the astronomical calculations?
AstroSanmei uses NASA JPL's DE440 and DE441 ephemeris data, which provides high-precision planetary positions. This enables accurate calculations for anyone born between 601 BCE and 2400 CE.
Does this app require an internet connection?
No. All divination calculations are performed entirely on your device. The only network access is when you use the place name search feature, which uses Apple MapKit.
What devices are supported?
AstroSanmei is available for iOS. Please check the App Store listing for the minimum iOS version requirement.
Subscription & Billing
How do I cancel my subscription?
Open the Settings app on your iPhone → tap your Apple ID → Subscriptions → find AstroSanmei → Cancel Subscription. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period.
How do I restore my purchase on a new device?
Sign in with the same Apple ID you used for the original purchase. The app will automatically recognize your subscription status. If it doesn't, try 'Restore Purchases' in the app settings.
Can I get a refund?
Refunds are handled by Apple. Visit reportaproblem.apple.com to request a refund for any App Store purchase.
Troubleshooting
The app won't launch.
Try updating to the latest version from the App Store, then restart your device. If the problem persists, delete and reinstall the app (your subscription will be retained through your Apple ID).
Diagnosis results aren't displaying.
Make sure you've completed your profile setup with a valid date of birth. If the issue continues, try restarting the app.
